Dear colleagues at Pan Hellenic Energy Federation and Kavala Oil Union.

In Retunsee, the network of energy unions in SE Europe, we are horrified to follow the recent developments in Kavala’s Oil Facilities. It is inconceivable that at the end of 2021 such brutal and violent attacks by the state against the legitimate actions of workers can take place and in fact in one of the EU countries.

The use of force, arrests and threats against trade unionists and other workers are unacceptable and reprehensible methods that we have met in history at completely different times.

The Regional Network of Energy Trade Unions of SE Europe calls on Energean Oil & Gas S.A. to stop inflaming an already tensed climate and to engage in an honest and meaningful dialogue with the Kavala Oil workers Union for the benefit of all parties involved.

In any case, we will continue to closely monitor developments and, if needed, we will use every opportunity to take action together with the Pan-Hellenic Energy Federation -a member of our Network- for the benefit of our colleagues at KAVALA OIL.
